    Virtual Homebuyer Education

    1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

    This Homebuyer Education class will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams.

    Taught by JVS’s HUD certified homebuyer education counselors, you learn about the entire home buying process, including credit education, how to qualify for a mortgage, mortgage terminology, proper home maintenance and how to avoid foreclosure. $50 fee per household. This class is also approved for the MSHDA Down Payment Assistance Program.

    Springboard to Success

    Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays through November 30

    Springboard to Success is an 8 week in-person course for women that combines job search assistance with Microsoft 2016 Word and Excel basic computer training.

    You’ll learn how to identify viable job targets, create a strong resume, network on social media, and more.

    Do you have a job interview coming up? Are you in the middle of your job search? Join the JVS Business & Career Services staff to practice your skills in a mock interview (or two).

    Mock interviews are an excellent way to prepare for a job interview and are available in person and virtually. You will receive immediate feedback on your responses to interview questions so that you can feel confident throughout the process.

    Microsoft Word and Excel for Beginners

    2 – 4:30 p.m.
    Mondays & Wednesdays through November 17
    Improve your computer skills and increase your confidence at work! Program includes two group classes per week for six weeks. Each class is two hours. Classes are held at the Hermelin ORT Resource Center in Southfield. Masks covering the nose and mouth are required while in the building. Additional assignments are included for enhanced learning outside of class time.
    Each six-week program costs $499. Full and partial scholarships available for qualified applicants. Scholarship applications must be submitted prior to class for consideration.
